My cousin Tammy
My cousin Tammy died quite unexpectedly on January 30, 2007. She left behind a husband of almost 30 years, two sons (one was just 11 years-old), and lots of grieving relatives and friends. Her Dad is my mother’s brother.
I wasn’t able to attend the funeral, but was able to put together a quick video from stills the family sent me. My mother and I plan on doing a longer piece when we get access to more photos and information on Tammy’s life.
Our family rallied around this project and accomplished what was the impossible just a few years ago. On Friday, my mother scanned photos of Tammy that she had on-hand and emailed them to me. Tammy’s niece uploaded a DVD of images to email, and I had all of the images I needed by 9:00pm Friday. I worked on it in After Effects until 4:00am Saturday, rendered it for an hour (and drank another pot of coffee to stay awake), then authored a quick DVD-spec file in *.iso format, uploaded it to one of my domains, and sent an email link to my cousin Holly’s husband Logan in Texas. Logan downloaded the *.iso, burned it to a DVD, and tested it in two players. By 9:30am, Tammy’s DVD was at the funeral home and ready for the service at 10am.
Rest in peace, Tammy. You will be missed…
