LBCC: Con$umed Shorts

In March of 2006, our Creative Arts team at church took on the task of creating four video shorts for a message series. The Con$umed series delved into the Christian’s daily concern with money, and each week was a theme, including: greed, need, debt, planning, and generosity.

We took our cues from the deluge of money-related commercials out in TV-land. And rather than create “straight” counterpoints to those, we decided to satirize them instead by taking their ideas into the realm of ridiculous. Such as, “Don’t get rich quick… get rich yesterday!” “It’s never too early to start saving!” And so on.

These were a lot of fun to create. Team members Cheryl Kouns and Kelli King wrote the bulk of the screenplays’ content, with the rest of the team providing brain-storming and editing functions. I shot each one, edited them, and provided sound design.

Enjoy!
